Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash
Prineville Police Department
On April 24, 2026, at approximately 10:59 p.m., the Prineville Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a bicyclist in the area of NE Combs Flat Road.
Upon arrival, officers located the bicyclist suffering from critical injuries; the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle was identified by responding officers. The driver was taken into custody upon conclusion of the investigation. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
The Oregon State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit arrived on scene and conducted an investigation. The Oregon State Police have assumed primary responsibility for the case.
The Prineville Police Department extends its appreciation to the Oregon State Police for their prompt response and assistance. The Department also acknowledges the support provided by the Crook County Sheriff’s Office, City of Prineville Public Works, and ODOT at the scene.
Due to the active status of the investigation and the privacy of those involved, additional details are not being released at this time. The Prineville Police Department offers its condolences to the family of the victim.
